More about this rule

The rule in plain language

Austin's official sound guidance applies those limits to amplified sound on residential property. Residential property is not eligible for an outdoor sound permit, so a permit does not extend those residential hours.

What to keep in mind

This answer is about amplified sound at a residence. Commercial venues, construction, mechanical equipment, special events, and other kinds of noise can have different rules. Report non-emergency sound complaints through Austin 3-1-1.
