More about this rule

The rule in plain language

Columbus amended City Code section 2329.11 to add this nighttime standard for commercial, manufacturing, institutional, and other nonresidential property. Other unreasonable-noise provisions can apply regardless of this particular distance-and-hours rule.

What to keep in mind

This answer is the official nighttime rule for sound coming from nonresidential property; it is not a blanket allowance for residential parties or every other noise source before 10 p.m. Community events and amplified sound can have separate permit rules.
